Personal Statement
April Yan is Ripon High’s Senior Class President for the 2022-2023 school year. After serving as her class vice president for two years prior, she decided to take the next step into a presidential role. Her job is to head and plan all senior events like Senior Sunrise, and while she knows it'll take a lot of dedication and patience, she's excited. She and her officer team are also in charge of Winterfest, a mini-Homecoming during second semester. April will also be heading Gallery of the Arts this year, which honors the art and music programs at RHS. Her job as a whole is to serve as a representative for her class, and ensure that her officer team can give their class a great last year of high school by executing all events well. At school, April likes to challenge herself with advanced classes, in addition to tutoring as a zero period. She enjoys participating in club events like Environmental Advocacy soap making and Kindness Club chalk writing. This year, April will be running with the school’s cross country team and playing tennis. Her personal goals are to maintain her grades and make time to take care of herself. With college steadily approaching, and applications open, April knows balance is key. She aspires to be an engineer, but understands she has to take it one step at a time. In her free time, April likes to watch crime/detective shows or rom-com movies. However, her favorite hobby is reading because she likes to experience the different lives and perspectives of characters.
